The Olympos Teleferik (Tahtalı cable car) starts near Kemer and carries passengers from sea level to the summit of Tahtalı Mountain, at around 2,365 metres. The ride takes roughly ten minutes, with the Mediterranean getting smaller beneath you and the Taurus range opening up ahead.

At the top there is a viewing terrace, a restaurant and cafe, and on clear days views over Kemer, Phaselis, the Gulf of Antalya and the surrounding peaks. Temperatures at the summit are much cooler than at the coast, even in summer, and in winter snow is possible.

Practical notes

• Kemer is about 45 kilometres from Antalya. Many hotel and tour operators include transfers.
• Take a jacket, whatever the season.
• Visibility is best in the morning; check weather and operating status before you go, as winds or conditions can close the cable car.
• Combine with Phaselis, an ancient harbour city nearby, for a coast-and-mountain day.
