Rafting and a Roman bridge in a Taurus mountain national park
Köprülü Canyon National Park lies north-east of Antalya and centres on the Köprüçay river (known in antiquity as the Eurymedon). The gorge is more than a hundred metres deep in places, with pine-covered slopes and a river the colour of jade.
The most popular activity is white-water rafting, with trips of different lengths and difficulty suited to families as well as to more experienced paddlers. Besides rafting you can walk to the Oluk Bridge, a Roman-era stone bridge over the river, and eat at riverside restaurants that serve grilled trout. The area is also near the ancient city of Selge, a fascinating, remote ruin in the mountains above.
